Our commitment to more transparency is reflected in our Standards and our processes.
Our Standards are revised annually to ensure that new scientific findings, new regulations, or market requirements can be implemented and adapted immediately.
Technical committees develop and revise the OEKO-TEX® Standards based on inputs and expertise of the 17 international testing institutes of the OEKO-TEX® Association. The technical committees are made up of experts from the testing institutes in various areas and countries who jointly discuss possible adjustments. Textile engineers, technicians, chemists, lawyers, social scientists, marketers, etc. are represented so that as many perspectives as possible can be considered.
The proposals developed during the process are being reviewed by the OEKO-TEX® International Advisory Board (IAB). The IAB is established to bring diversified stakeholder expertise and perspective to the OEKO-TEX® Association. It allows perspectives of key industry stakeholders in our Standard revision process. Finally, the proposals are discussed in the annual testing institute manager meeting, which is tasked with defining and expressing final positions and recommendations.
OEKO-TEX® develops certifications and labels that support consumers, brands, and retailers in their purchasing decisions and thereby improving conditions and circumstances for stakeholders in the industry and protecting our planet. To meet this, OEKO-TEX® strives to involve all stakeholders in the setting and revision process of the OEKO-TEX® Standards on a regular basis.
